Pine Blanket Chest with Moulded Plinth Base

Approx. 82x52x45cm. COLLECTION ONLY. A rectangular blanket or storage chest constructed from solid pine. The carcase is joined with hand-cut dovetails at the corners and is raised on a substantial moulded plinth base. The hinged lid features a moulded edge and opens to a plain interior with wide-plank floorboards. The underside of the lid is reinforced with two nailed battens. Hardware consists of a pair of large, blackened iron strap hinges with rounded terminals mounted to the interior, and twin blackened iron swing carrying handles on the sides. A simple central keyhole is present on the front face, although it lacks an external escutcheon plate.
