Description
A mid-20th-century child’s school desk, typical of post-war British educational design. The desk is constructed from a light-toned hardwood, possibly beech, with a medium-brown stained finish. It features a sloping top with a lift-up lid attached by metal hinges, which opens to reveal a shallow storage compartment with an internal wooden divider. The structure is supported by four square-section splayed legs. The underside of the lid is finished with a dark grey-black paint, likely intended for use as a chalkboard. Visible markings include handwritten characters HLH in white chalk on the underside of the lid and a small, illegible white sticker on the top surface.
