Brentleigh Ware Ceramic Sauce Boat and Underplate, Art Deco, Beech Leaf Motif

A Brentleigh Ware miniature sauce boat with an underplate, manufactured by the Howard Pottery Co. Ltd of Stoke-on-Trent. This earthenware vessel features a moulded Art Deco form with a scalloped rim and a scrolled handle. The exterior is decorated in the Beech pattern, featuring hand-painted polychrome autumnal foliage in shades of green, russet, and yellow. The decoration is applied over a cream-coloured ground with a characteristic fine brown speckle. Length: approximately 11 cm.
