Description
This is an original 1935 Tag der Arbeit (Day of Labour) commemorative badge, commonly referred to as a tinnie or Tagungsabzeichen, from the Third Reich era in Germany. Struck in metal, the obverse features a detailed relief depicting three figures representing the national workforce: a manual labourer with a sledgehammer, a professional or architect holding a scroll, and a farmer with a bundle of grain. Above the figures is the arched inscription TAG DER ARBEIT, and below is the national eagle emblem clutching a wreathed swastika, flanked by the year 1935. The reverse bears the embossed manufacturer’s mark of the prestigious firm Steinhauer and Luck, based in Ludenscheid. These badges were mass-produced for participants of May Day celebrations to promote national unity and the dignity of work. No recipient is named as these were general participation tokens.
