Vintage Chloride Exide Industrial Handheld Signal Lantern

A vintage industrial handheld signal lantern featuring a yellow-painted cast metal body with an integrated top handle. This unit was manufactured by Chloride Batteries Ltd, as indicated by the embossed text CHLORIDE and EXIDE on the side-mounted metal latch. The lantern is fitted with a glass lens protected by a black and blue rubber bezel and is operated via a black star-shaped rotary control switch. The rear of the unit includes a galvanised metal mounting plate with keyhole slots designed for wall-mounted attachment. The body exhibits various handwritten annotations in black marker, including the characters R, G, SP, and A, which likely served as identification for signal colours or internal inventory codes.
