Description
A pair of rectangular stoneware trinket dishes with canted corners, produced by the English manufacturer Wedgwood. The lot comprises one dish in light blue jasperware and one in black jasperware. Each piece is decorated with applied white bas-relief depicting a neoclassical mythological scene featuring a male figure holding a horse and a winged attendant. The border of each dish is finished with an applied white laurel leaf pattern. The bases are impressed with factory marks. The black dish is marked WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND with S marks. The blue dish is marked WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND and 77, indicating a manufacture date of 1977.
