Description

This lot comprises a mixed assembly of flatware presented in a red fabric-lined canteen. The set includes table knives with cream-coloured handles, likely made of xylonite or celluloid. The blades are etched with the maker’s mark J. DUCKWORTH & SONS BOLTON and NO RUS, indicating an early form of stainless steel. The forks in the collection are stamped on the reverse with the trade name NEVADA SILVER and the initials D & A for the Birmingham manufacturer Daniel & Arter. These pieces also bear pseudo-hallmarks including a crown and a letter in a shield. Additionally, the lot contains spoons marked NICKEL SILVER on the reverse of the handles, which feature a different decorative terminal design than the forks, indicating a composite set.
