1982 Zippo Polished Chrome HMS Hermes Falklands War Commemorative Lighter

A Zippo windproof lighter in polished chrome, produced as a commemorative item for HMS Hermes (R12) following the ship’s service as the flagship during the 1982 Falklands War. The front of the lighter features an applied, multi-colour enamelled crest of HMS Hermes, depicting a naval crown over the ship’s name, with a diamond shield showing the head of the winged god Hermes on a light blue ground. The reverse is engraved with a map of the Falkland Islands and the text FALKLAND ISLANDS 1982. The base is stamped with the Zippo logo, BRADFORD, PA., and date codes //// to the left and /// to the right, identifying the manufacture date as 1982. The lighter is fitted with a standard Zippo chimney insert.
