Description
This 15-piece Japanese eggshell porcelain tea service is from the Kutani region, dating to the mid-20th century Showa period. The set comprises a teapot, a lidded sugar bowl, a milk jug, six teacups, and six saucers. Each piece is decorated with hand-painted overglaze enamels and gilt, featuring a traditional landscape with Mount Fuji, pagodas, and lakeside dwellings. The handles, spouts, and finials are finished with gilt accents. The teacups feature a geisha-head lithophane in the base, visible when held to a light source. The base of the teapot and saucers features a square red mark with the characters for Kutani.
