Description
A late 19th or early 20th century cast brass fireplace trivet or miniature footman. The stand features a rectangular top with a shaped, convex front edge, decorated with an openwork sand-cast design depicting two birds perched on branches amidst clusters of fruit and leaves. It is raised on four cabriole legs which feature cast foliate decoration to the knees. The construction shows the legs are individually cast and secured to the frame with nuts and bolts. There are no maker’s marks, registration marks, or signatures visible on the item.
