A Coalport Ltd Edition Plate, 'The Bronte Plate'

This Coalport Ltd Edition Plate, titled ‘The Bronte Plate’, was specially commissioned by Grattan plc to commemorate their 75th anniversary, spanning from 1912 to 1987. The circular bone china plate features a central brown transfer-printed landscape scene depicting figures on the Yorkshire moors. The wide border is decorated with four portrait vignettes of the Bronte sisters and two topographical views of locations associated with the family, including Haworth Parsonage. These vignettes are interspersed with a polychrome floral and foliate vine pattern in green and yellow, and the plate is finished with a gilt rim. The item is accompanied by a Coalport certificate of authenticity, hand-numbered 646 from a limited edition of 5000, and is presented in its original navy blue box with a silk-style lining.
