Two Vintage Staffordshire Character Jugs including a Shorter and Son Example

This lot consists of two vintage glazed ceramic character jugs from Staffordshire, England. The larger jug depicts a mature male figure with grey hair and a moustache, wearing a green feathered cap and a textured ruff-style collar. The handle is modelled in the form of a rustic branch. The smaller jug portrays a seated gentleman in 18th-century attire, featuring a blue coat, white waistcoat, and a white wig. He is shown holding a black pipe and a small drinking vessel. The base of the smaller jug is marked with impressed lettering for SHORTER and ENGLAND, and features a printed mark reading GENUINE STAFFORDSHIRE HAND PAINTED.
