A Modern Resin Punu Style Oriental Bust on Gallery Stand, Late 20th Century

A contemporary decorative sculpture presented as an Oriental bust, meticulously modelled after the traditional Mukudj masks of the Punu people of Gabon. The piece is constructed from a cast resin composite, featuring a face with a multi-tone painted finish designed to replicate an aged patina. The iconography includes the classic nine-pointed diamond keloid scarification on the forehead, representing an idealised female ancestor, alongside slit almond-shaped eyes and a high, striated coiffure. The reverse of the sculpture reveals the translucent nature of the material. The work is mounted upon a square black display base with a metal support rod, reflecting a modern gallery aesthetic.
