Description

This collection of seven vintage bisque figurines captures the traditional aesthetic of Bavarian folk and tavern life, popularised in the mid-to-late 20th century. The set features several pieces of interest to the breweriana collector, including an elderly gentleman seated on a bench enjoying a lidded stein and a pipe, and a young boy with a small mug seated on a fence with a goose. Other characters in the lot include a bearded scholar with a book, a woman knitting, a standing man with a walking stick, and two young girls in pastoral dress. Each piece is hand-painted in a muted, earthy colour palette with the matte finish characteristic of bisque porcelain. While the style is reminiscent of Goebel or Hummel designs, these are attributed to mid-century decorative manufacturers such as Homco or Trimont Ware. Dimensions: Largest figure approximately 14cm x 7cm x 6cm; smallest figure approximately 10cm x 5cm x 5cm.
