Description

This collection of earthenware ceramics was produced by Hornsea Pottery in East Yorkshire, England, and includes pieces from the Fauna and Fauna Royal ranges. The items are modelled in naturalistic forms resembling tree trunks and logs, featuring moulded woodland animals including owls, squirrels, a deer, and a fox-like creature. The pieces are finished in a multi-toned high-gloss glaze in shades of brown, green, and cream. The assortment includes two small vases with owls, a tall tree-trunk vase with squirrels, a horizontal log-form planter with a reclining deer, a wall-mounted pocket vase with a squirrel, and a medium tree-trunk vase. Markings on the bases include the stamped Hornsea logo with a horn over wavy lines and Made in England. Incised model numbers 56, 574, and 582 are present on various pieces. One item features the circular Fauna Royal Hornsea Pottery Regd Made in England mark and the hand-incised name Bushy.
