A J & G Morten Novelty Teapot for The Tea Council Collection, 1988

A novelty glazed earthenware teapot designed by Jennie and Gary Morten for The Tea Council Collection. The body is modelled in the form of a circular table draped with a tablecloth. The lid is sculpted with a miniature tea service including a teapot, a cream jug, four cups, and several saucers. The exterior is finished in a cream glaze decorated with a repeating pattern of blue dot clusters. The miniature teapot on the lid features a solid blue finial. The base is marked with a circular blue printed stamp reading THE TEA COUNCIL COLLECTION DESIGNED BY J & G MORTEN with the date 1988 at the centre.
