Lot 794:
Description
A collection of assorted marine gastropod shell specimens. The group includes a large, heavily weathered and calcified shell, possibly a species of King Helmet (Cassidae family) or large Conch, showing some remaining natural brown pigmentation. Also included is a spiny murex shell, likely a Chicoreus species, featuring characteristic orange-brown and white banding. The collection further contains a conical shell with horizontal purplish-brown banding, resembling a Fox Shell (Triplofusus trapezium), and a smooth, pale cream-coloured gastropod shell with a flared aperture, possibly a Milk Conch (Lobatus costatus).
The largest specimen measures approximately 140mm in length.
