Attributed to Melba Ware (H.A. Wain and Sons Ltd), this large glazed ceramic model depicts a heavy horse, such as a Shire or Clydesdale, in a standing pose. The figure is finished in a bay glaze with a white blaze on the face and white feathered legs. It is fitted with an elaborate show or dray harness featuring dark brown strapping with decorative red and gold-patterned elements on the browband and back pad, complemented by gold-tone metallic chains. While no maker marks are visible in the provided image, the form and decoration are characteristic of the manufacturer’s mid-20th-century output.
