Vintage BYRRH Advertising Ashtray by Moulin des Loups Orchies

A vintage French advertising ashtray for the aromatised wine brand BYRRH, manufactured by the Moulin des Loups (MDL) pottery at the St Amand et Hamage works. The circular vessel is constructed from white glazed ceramic and features a scalloped rim with six integrated cigarette rests. The exterior is decorated with a transfer-printed graphic consisting of a bold red rectangular panel with blue and white borders, featuring the brand name BYRRH in white block lettering with blue outlines. The base bears a blue transfer-printed factory mark depicting a central windmill with the initials MDL across the sails. The mark is inscribed with NORD, ORCHIES, and ST AMAND – HAMAGE. A secondary inscription below the circular emblem reads 18, Bd MALESHERBES, PARIS 8e and ANJ. 03 22, identifying a Parisian showroom address and historical telephone exchange.
