Description
An antique mid-19th century circa 1840-1850 large oval serving platter attributed to Thomas Dimmock Jr and Co. of Staffordshire. The piece is crafted from stonewear and features blue transfer-printed decoration in the Morea pattern. The central well depicts a romanticised classical landscape featuring architectural ruins with a colonnade, a domed building in the distance, a cow in the foreground, and lush, feathery trees. The wide border is decorated with a dense, ornate arrangement of large floral blossoms and scrolled foliage. The platter has a scalloped, wavy rim. The reverse features a blue transfer-printed cartouche mark containing the pattern name MOREA above the designation STONE CHINA. Quantity: 1.
