A large-scale limited edition polychrome resin diorama by Border Fine Arts, designed by artist Elizabeth MacAllister and dated 1988. Titled New Shoes for Dolly, the highly detailed narrative scene depicts a rural blacksmith’s forge, featuring a bay draft horse being led across a cobbled surface toward a farrier standing beside a central anvil and a brick furnace with a conical hood. The sculpture exhibits realistic hand-painted textures, incorporating figures in mid-20th-century workwear, a tuxedo cat, and various farrier tools. The piece is signed Elizabeth MacAllister in the mould on the reverse, marked BFA Scotland © 1988 on the base, and hand-numbered 179/950. It is mounted on a shaped, dark-stained wooden plinth and is accompanied by the original Certificate of Authenticity. Approximately 26cm high, 53cm wide, 22cm deep.
