An Early 20th Century Chi-Chi Chinese Daily Fortune Teller Divination Set by Pacific Dry Goods Co.

An early 20th-century Chi-Chi Chinese Daily Fortune Teller set, based on the traditional Chinese Kau Cim divination practice. The set was manufactured by the Pacific Dry Goods Co. of San Francisco, California. 

The lot includes a yellow paper instructional booklet with a copyright date of 1915. The cover is printed with the title Chi-Chi Chinese Daily Fortune Teller and the Chinese characters 關帝靈籤 (Guan Di Ling Qian),

The set features a collection of flat bamboo divination sticks, several of which are hand-numbered in black ink at the upper end, with numbers including 89, 72, and 48 visible. Also included is a tall cylindrical shaker tube used for selecting the sticks. The tube is decorated with a printed wrap featuring traditional motifs, including fans, floral sprays, and geometric patterns in a palette of blue, red, and cream.
