Description
An assortment of early 20th-century postcards, primarily focused on United Kingdom topographical views, coastal resorts, and historical events. The collection includes real photo postcards (RPPC), hand-tinted lithographs, and printed illustrations. Visible subjects include views of Whalley (Park Villas, King St, The Nab), Burnley (Old Cross), Morecambe (Clock Tower and Central Pier), New Brighton (Battery and Shore showing Fort Perch Rock and the lighthouse), Tooting Bec Common, and Colwyn Bay (Nant-y-Glyn Valley). A significant historical real photo postcard is titled Unveiling the Statue by the Duchess of Portland, in Memory of Her Late Majesty Queen Victoria, Nottingham, July 28th 1905, bearing the publisher’s mark E Hamel and Co Copyright. Also present is a black and white photographic card titled Military Prison, Trimulgherry, located in Secunderabad, India.
