The exterior hinged lid is engraved with a stylized crown emblem above the name ALTHORP, which refers to Althorp House, the ancestral home of the Spencer family. The case opens to reveal two internal mirrors. No hallmarks are present on the item; it is therefore described as being of silver-plated or polished base metal construction.
