Description
A 19th-century Victorian novelty snuff box, fashioned in the form of a pointed-toe shoe and constructed from black lacquered papier-mâché. The hinged lid features a central oval mother-of-pearl inlay, surrounded by a fine, incised wavy line border. Three small circular mother-of-pearl inlays are positioned on the toe area. The underside is shaped with a flat sole and a distinct heel, decorated with a semi-circular pattern of small indentations and two small metal pins. The interior is unlined and shows signs of historical use. There are no maker’s marks or inscriptions present.
