Lot 592:
Description
This lot features two distinct ceramic pieces: a Royal Doulton porcelain figurine and a studio pottery wall pocket.
The first item is a Royal Doulton fine bone china figurine titled Fragrance, model number HN 2334, designed by Peggy Davies. The figure is depicted wearing a voluminous blue gown decorated with white starburst or snowflake-like motifs. The dress is accented with a white ruffled collar and cuffs, and the woman’s hair is styled in an elaborate updo. The base carries the standard green printed Royal Doulton backstamp featuring a lion atop a crown. The printed text reads: Fragrance, H.N. 2334, COPR. 1965, DOULTON & CO LIMITED, followed by registration numbers Rd No 921232, Rd No 47887, Rd No 10342, and Rd No 451/65. A small blue handwritten mark 25 is also visible.
The second item is a wall pocket from Tintagel Pottery, Cornwall. It is constructed from red earthenware clay and finished with a characteristic abstract dragon-style glaze in mottled shades of green and white, overlaid with dark green swirling lines. The vessel has a flared rim and a pre-pierced hole at the back for wall mounting. The unglazed base is stamped in black with the words: TINTAGEL POTTERY, TINTAGEL, CORNWALL.
