A set of five Wedgwood Williamsburg Potpourri pattern earthenware plates

A set of five earthenware plates manufactured by Wedgwood in the Williamsburg Potpourri pattern. Each plate is of circular form featuring a moulded, scalloped rim. The central decoration is a polychrome under-glaze transfer-printed design in the Chinoiserie style, depicting a bird perched amongst a lush arrangement of flowers and fruit, accompanied by butterflies. The borders are decorated with smaller, coordinating floral sprays. The underside of the plates bears a comprehensive set of printed marks. These include the text WILLIAMSBURG POTPOURRI TKD 510. Below this are two circular backstamps; the left reading WILLIAMSBURG COMMEMORATIVE WARE and the right reading of ETRURIA WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND BARLASTON, which includes a small urn symbol. Further text includes * Trade Mark of Williamsburg Restoration Inc., Decoration under-glaze, and Detergent proof. These plates were produced at the Barlaston factory as part of a commemorative line for Williamsburg Restoration Inc.
