Mid-20th Century Black Painted Wood Piano Stool with Music Storage. COLLECTION ONLY

A mid-20th century piano stool of wooden construction with a black-painted finish. The design features a rectangular box frame with two curved side handles, raised on four square tapering legs. The padded seat is upholstered in a floral fabric featuring various blooms in red, blue, and green on a cream ground, with a central decorative foliate border. The seat is hinged, opening to a shallow internal storage compartment for sheet music. The compartment currently contains a selection of ephemera, including Beatles-themed sheet music and promotional material. This piece is similar in style to the solo box stools produced by manufacturers such as John Austin, although no maker’s marks or stamps are visible. The upholstery appears to be a later addition.
