Description
A set of nine earthenware plates produced by Midwinter in the Trend shape. The pieces feature a monochromatic deep teal glaze, often referred to as petrol blue. The Trend design is characterised by its wide, flat rim decorated with a textured, vertically fluted or ribbed pattern. This range was designed for the factory by David Queensberry, the 12th Marquis of Queensberry, and was originally launched in 1962. Each plate bears a printed backstamp to the base which reads: 9, TREND, Shapes designed by the MARQUIS OF QUEENSBERRY, Midwinter, FINE TABLEWARE, STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND, DISHWASHER PROOF DETERGENT. These items represent British mid-century modern ceramic production from the Staffordshire region.
