Description

A circular turned ebony trinket or powder bowl with a matching domed lid and central turned knob finial. The lid is inset with a crescent-shaped sterling silver mount featuring chased and engraved foliate scroll decoration and a central vacant circular cartouche. The base of the bowl is stamped with the word EBONY, REG. NO 607363, and MADE IN ENGLAND. The registration number dates the design to late 1912. The silver mount is struck with a partial maker’s mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and a lowercase date letter n for 1912.
