Lot 452:
Description
A large-scale slip-cast ceramic figurine in the Capodimonte style, depicting an elderly organ grinder. The figure is shown leaning against a wood-effect barrel organ mounted on a two-wheeled cart. The man is dressed in a wide-brimmed brown hat, a teal-blue jacket, an orange waistcoat, and taupe trousers. The scene is accented with three small yellow birds, two perched atop the organ and one at the figure’s feet on the textured base. The piece features a matte, bisque-like finish with hand-painted details. The reverse of the organ housing contains a circular aperture revealing a mechanical music box movement, secured by three metal brackets and operated by a central brass-toned winding key. The underside of the base is unmarked, showing only a remnant of a gold-coloured foil sticker and adhesive residue.
Scale marker: 125 mm.
