Description
A substantial mid-20th-century wooden sideboard in the Jacobean Revival style, closely resembling the Tudor Brown range produced by British manufacturers such as Wood Brothers (Old Charm) or Jaycee Furniture. The piece is constructed from wood and features a triple-section front under a rectangular top. The upper section is configured with two drawers featuring relief-moulded fronts and brass ring-pull handles. These flank a central fall-front compartment which opens to reveal an interior lined with a red material featuring a gold-tooled decorative border, suitable for use as a cocktail or stationery surface. The lower section consists of four cupboard doors: two larger outer doors featuring recessed arched panels with carved foliate motifs, and a central pair of smaller rectangular doors. The interior of the side cupboards contains single wooden shelves. The sideboard is finished with ornate brass-toned hardware, including external butterfly hinges and ring-pull handles with decorative backplates. A brass strike plate is present on the upper edge of the fall-front door, though the stamped characters are not clearly legible.
Estimated width: 150 – 180 cm.
