Description
This set of bone china includes teacups, saucers, side plates, a waste bowl, and a larger serving plate. The pieces were manufactured by Redfern and Drakeford of Longton, Staffordshire, and are crafted from fine white porcelain with scalloped rims and gilded edges. The cups and bowl exhibit a subtly lobed or fluted body. The decorative scheme consists of delicate transfer-printed swags of pink and yellow roses, blue forget-me-nots, and green foliage. The underside of the pieces displays a brown printed factory mark featuring a heraldic lion rampant standing on a torse above the initials R and D. Additionally, a handwritten pattern number 2140 and initials JL are present in pink ink. The bases of the cups bear a black transfer British Design Registration mark reading Rd No 322753, which dates the pattern registration to 1898.
