The exterior is finished in an off-white paint in a decorative shabby chic style. The top of the lid and a recessed rectangular panel on the front feature an applied material decorated with a large-scale feather motif in muted tones. The piece is of simple box construction and stands on four square block feet. The interior is painted white. The lid is secured with two metal butt hinges and is supported by a single metal folding lid stay on the right side. The underside of the lid is reinforced with two wooden bracing strips.
