Description
This lidded beer stein is constructed from moulded stoneware with a hand-painted polychrome enamel finish. The vessel features a wrap-around relief scene depicting a man and a woman in traditional Bavarian or Austrian folk costume situated in a rural landscape. The man is shown seated on a wooden fence holding a small mug. The central scene is framed by relief-moulded Edelweiss flowers and decorative scrolling. The handle is fashioned with a rustic bark-like texture. The piece is fitted with a conical pewter lid featuring embossed floral scrollwork and a standard thumb lift attached by a three-ring hinge. The interior is finished with a white glaze. Raised German text on the body reads KEINEN TROPFEN and IM BECHER MEHR which translates as Not a drop more in the cup.
