Description
A collection of ten decorative items consisting of porcelain dishes and various figurines. The group includes a trio of circular porcelain dishes, each decorated with polychrome scenes of figures in traditional dress within landscape settings. On the reverse of one dish is a blue underglaze mark featuring a crown above a cursive f and the number 3, identifying it as a product of the Fürstenberg Porcelain Manufactory, Germany. The figurines in the collection include a large polychrome standing figure of a Chinese official or deity wearing elaborate ceremonial robes and holding a green ruyi sceptre; a seated white porcelain Buddha figure with robes decorated in floral sprays; two white porcelain figures from the Sanxing group with iron-red and gilt highlights, one of which holds a child; a small seated blue and white figure; two miniature porcelain fish basket ornaments with blue-rimmed edges and gold-toned wire handles; and a small dark standing figure carved from a material resembling soapstone or resin. The items are primarily porcelain, utilising decoration techniques such as transfer-printing, hand-applied enamels, and cold-painted gilding.
