Description
A mid-century modern sewing box stool or storage ottoman, circa 1960s. The piece features a rectangular bowed body finished in cream-coloured woven wicker in the style of Lloyd Loom. The hinged, padded seat is upholstered in a textured dark red and burgundy fabric with a subtle floral pattern, accented with a black and white decorative tassel to the front. The interior is lined in a bright red satin-effect fabric, with the underside of the lid featuring button-tufted capitonné detailing. The stool is supported on four black-painted tapered wooden legs, each terminating in a brass-toned metal ferrule. The construction consists of a wooden frame with a plywood base board. No maker’s marks or labels are present.
