A Crown Ducal earthenware pedestal basket by A.G. Richardson and Co. Ltd

A Crown Ducal earthenware pedestal basket, manufactured by A.G. Richardson and Co. Ltd, of Tunstall and Cobridge. The vessel features a circular form with a flared rim and is supported by a pedestal foot. It is designed with a single centrally-mounted overhead handle in a twisted rope style. The exterior is decorated with a moulded relief basket-weave pattern. The piece is finished in a two-tone glaze, with a pale mint green exterior and a contrasting primrose yellow interior. The base bears a printed factory mark in brown ink featuring a crown symbol to the left of a circular device; within the top of the circle is the word Crown and at the bottom are the initials A.G.R. A horizontal banner across the centre contains the word Ducal, with Made in England printed to the right.
