Metal Chinoiserie Style Circular Charger

This circular tray or wall charger is constructed from mixed metals, featuring a brass central panel inset within a wide, raised copper-toned rim. The central brass field is decorated with a finely engraved or etched scene in the Chinoiserie style, depicting a stylized oriental landscape with pagodas, a prominent central tree bearing clusters of fruit or flowers, and two birds in flight. This central motif is framed by a geometric and foliate border. The overall form of the piece appears to be spun or hammered. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible on the front of the item. Light-coloured patches at the bottom edge of the rim appear to be residue from an old adhesive label rather than intentional markings.
