Description

A pair of utilitarian glass carboys, commonly known as demijohns, typically used for fermentation and liquid storage. Each vessel is constructed from translucent green glass, featuring a narrow neck and a rounded, finished lip. The glass bottles are housed within two-part protective moulded plastic casings. These casings consist of a horizontally ribbed conical shoulder section and a vertically slatted cylindrical body. Each protective basket is fitted with integral carry handles. One casing features a circular medallion on the shoulder, although any embossed identification or logo is currently obscured. The design is characteristic of mid-to-late 20th-century European production, resembling styles marketed by firms such as Browin.
