Capodimonte Polychrome Bisque Porcelain Figurine of a Fisherman

A polychrome painted bisque porcelain figurine depicting an elderly fisherman. The character is portrayed with a grey beard and expressive facial features, wearing a black mariner’s cap adorned with a white anchor and rope emblem. He is dressed in a red and white striped sleeveless shirt and dark, cropped trousers. The figure is shown barefoot, carrying a single fish in his left hand and a woven basket filled with more fish in his right arm, leaning against a tree stump support. The figure stands on a circular base with a relief-moulded scroll-work border. The underside of the base features handwritten black script reading CAPODIMONTE, MADE IN ITALY, and the number 25. There is also a circular blue backstamp featuring a crown over the letter N, surrounded by the word CAPODIMONTE. A small relief-moulded N is visible on the front of the decorative base.
