Description
A late 19th or early 20th-century stained hardwood captain’s chair, also known as a smoker’s bow chair. The chair features a broad, curved horseshoe-shaped backrest with rounded terminals forming the armrests, supported by six ring-turned spindles. The seat is padded and upholstered in a deep red velvet fabric, fixed with a perimeter of brass-coloured upholstery studs. The frame is raised on four ring-turned legs, unified by a four-rail stretcher system. No manufacturer marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the piece.
