Lot 21:
Description
A hand-carved wooden djembe drum of traditional goblet form, in the West African style. The drum shell is carved from a single piece of dark-stained hardwood, with visible hand-tool marks to the interior. It features a natural animal skin head secured by a traditional rope-tuned system using black and flecked-white synthetic cord. The waist of the drum is decoratively wrapped with thin cords in green, yellow, and red. The base is fitted with a black rubberised protective ring. No maker marks or alphanumeric characters are visible on the exterior or interior of the shell.
