The set comprises a teacup with a pedestal foot and fluted base, a matching saucer, and a side plate. The teacup and side plate are centrally decorated with a circular portrait of Queen Elizabeth II within a gold-scroll frame, flanked by the Royal Lion and Unicorn supporters and surmounted by the St Edward’s Crown. Below the portrait is the text CORONATION and JUNE 2nd 1953. The plate features an additional red line border near the rim. The saucer features a central gilt Royal Cypher EIIR surmounted by a polychrome crown. All pieces are finished with gilt-edged rims. Each piece bears a printed backstamp on the base consisting of a cursive signature reading Clarice Cliff above the block text NEWPORT POTTERY CO ENGLAND and REGD. NO. 840076.
