Description
A UK 1953 cupro-nickel half crown coin presented in a commemorative coronation tin issued by the City of Manchester. The coin is housed in a circular maroon-finished tin with a purple velvet-lined interior. The lid features a central portrait of Queen Elizabeth II within a laurel wreath, surmounted by the EIIR cypher. Gold-coloured lettering on the lid reads CORONATION ELIZABETH II, PRESENTED BY THE LORD MAYOR AND CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF MANCHESTER, and JUNE 2nd 1953. The visible reverse of the coin features a crowned quartered shield of the Royal Arms flanked by the royal cypher E R, with the legend FID DEF, HALF CROWN, and the date 1953.
