Description
A mid-20th century oak mantel clock of Napoleon hat or tambour form. The oak case features a visible grain with a stepped, moulded base. The circular silvered dial is printed with the retailer name Butt & Co. Ltd. Chester and includes black Arabic numerals with a peripheral minute track. The dial is fitted with three winding apertures, a Slow/Fast adjustment aperture at the 12 o’clock position, and a Chime/Silent selector at the 3 o’clock position. The mechanical three-train movement is manufactured by Junghans, with the backplate stamped with the eight-pointed star trademark containing the letter J, Wurttemberg, and the production code A 52, indicating a manufacture date in the first half of 1952. The movement features a multi-rod chime assembly.
