Description
A 20th-century decorative earthenware wall plate, crafted in the Neo-Attic style. This terracotta Greek plate features a central black-figure scene depicting the sun god Apollo, inscribed “APOLLON”, driving his chariot. The design is executed in a palette of black, white, and terracotta tones, likely using a combination of transfer printing and hand-painted finishing. The central motif is enclosed by a stylized inner border and a traditional Greek key meander pattern to the rim. The reverse is finished with a clear glaze and fitted with a wire hanging loop. No maker’s marks are present. Diameter approx. 20cm.
