Lot 115:
Description
This lot comprises two vintage wooden boxes of contrasting styles. The first is a dark-toned rectangular box featuring dense hand-carved floral relief work across the lid and all four sides. The lid is further detailed with a central oval inlay featuring brass wire-work in a scrolling floral pattern. The interior is lined with a blue-purple felted material, suitable for use as a jewellery or trinket box. The second item is a polished light-toned wooden box, likely a souvenir of Gdansk, Poland. The lid is decorated with a printed black and gold-tone heraldic crest depicting the city’s coat of arms with a crown and double crosses. The interior of this box is unlined, revealing the natural wood grain. No manufacturer marks are present on either piece.
