Description
This collection of eight ceramic items features various British commemorative and heraldic designs, including pieces produced by W.H. Goss. The assortment includes a large porcelain Ilkley souvenir plate with a scalloped edge and gilt rim, decorated with transfer-printed and hand-coloured scenes of local landmarks including The Cow and Calf Rocks, Bolton Abbey, Church Street, The Strid, and White Wells, surrounding a central crest with the motto PER SALUBRITATEM OPES and the text On Ilk-la Moor baht at. Also present is a miniature unglazed biscuit porcelain model of the baptismal font from Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon, bearing the inscriptions Model of font in which Shakespeare was Baptized and STRATFORD-ON-AVON. The lot further contains a porcelain saucer for the 1924 British Empire Exhibition at Wembley featuring the official red lion crest, and a royal commemorative saucer depicting a crown, sceptre, and the floral emblems of the United Kingdom with a ribbon reading GOD SAVE OUR BELOVED QUEEN. Completing the collection are four small porcelain dishes and saucers displaying the town crests of Harrogate (motto ARX CELEBRIS FONTIBUS), Bolton (motto SUPERA MORAS), Largs, and Dublin, all finished with gilt rims.
