Lot 562:
Description
A Coopers of Stortford retro-style solid-state desktop radio, part number 8279. The unit is constructed with a moulded plastic cabinet featuring a polished dark mahogany-effect finish. The front displays a horizontal-slotted speaker grille to the left, adorned with applied white lettering spelling RADIO. To the right is a large analogue circular tuning dial protected by a clear cover, featuring frequency scales for FM, MW, and LW bands, alongside printed names of European cities such as Geneva, Vienna, and Paris in a mid-century aesthetic.
The top control panel includes three cream-coloured push buttons for band selection and two silver-capped rotary knobs for power/volume and tuning. A matching arched carrying handle is mounted on metal supports. The rear of the cabinet retains its original technical label with the manufacturer mark for Coopers of Stortford. Technical specifications include frequency ranges for AM (525-1615KHz), FM (87.5-108MHz), and LW (153-280KHz). The unit is dual-powered, utilising a captive AC mains lead (230V) or six 1.5V C/LR14 batteries.
